I want to talk about how to deal with one of the most frustrating and demotivating things that happen to people- the slump.
We all face them at one point or another, and how you handle yourself through a slump or “losing streak” determines how quickly you get out of it. As Dr. Suess says, “Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.”
Here are a 3 tips that I’ve found helpful:
1. Don’t beat yourself up
When it dawns on you that you are in a pattern you don’t like (out of shape, not selling as well as you were, losing ground financially- whatever), you must first stop any feelings of guilt or shame that surround the situation. Simply understanding that a little losing streak doesn’t make you a Read More...

Everyone hates to fail but what most people don’t realize is that failing is part of success. Anyone who has ever succeeded has failed many times. So, how do you overcome failure?
1. Learn from your mistakes and failures.
How did you learn to ride a bike? The short answer: you fell off 100 times. Every time you make a mistake or fail, learn as much as you can from it so that you are better prepared next time.
Action Step: Write down the top five things that you learned from your last mistake or failure.
In this video, Tony Robbins explains, if you are struggling to hit a goal, it is because you have an inner conflict. Resolving these, will unlock what is holding you back.

Identify the conflict. Ask yourself, what Read More...
Simplicity allows you to move through life more easily, more quickly and with much greater enjoyment. I learned this through thousands of miles of hiking.
In long distance hiking, the goal is clear – walk from here to there. Your ability to achieve that goal with ease, comfort and safety is dramatically affected by the load you choose to carry.
Many hikers carry gear that is seldom used, contributes little value and mostly just adds weight to their packs. Over time I learned to reduce my pack weight so that everything I need to be safe and comfortable (including food and water) for 5 days weighs about 30 pounds. If I replace some old equipment, I can easily reduce that to 20-25 pounds. I know hikers Read More...
Last month we ran a contest on our blog and asked “what makes you laugh?” We got so many great submissions that we thought we would share the top 10 funny videos to brighten your day.
Remember, laughter is a great attitude management tool. The benefits of a good laugh are endless: it improves your attitude; decreases stress and depression; it is a workout for your abdominal muscles; it increases oxygen to the brain and your muscles; it strengths your immune system; and laughter makes you more attractive.
I recently received this email from a contact of mine, and a few of his tips really stung. I know I’m guilty of not following these priorities all the time, and I know not doing it doesn’t serve me. I thought I’d pass it on-maybe you’ll get a bit stung, too, but it’s good for you!
A friend and I were talking recently about time management and prioritization. I told him that for me, the key to getting things done is to know the single most important thing I must do that day and to do it first. That way, it is impossible to get to the end of the day and say, “I did not get anything done.”
My friend looked at me and said, “That’s called swallowing the Read More...
