Yesterday, Tom Weber wrote a great post on how to cure fear – and that was by taking action. Today, we will focus on how to cure fears in regards to a specific task – selling.
You might enjoy making a sale, but you find yourself getting that butterfly feeling before an important presentation or at the moment of decision. Even if selling is not your career, you do engage in sales – whether if be selling your point of view to others or your selling your skill set, as in a job interview.
I had a phone call today that I was not looking forward to and I had thought of putting it off until “tomorrow”. I had plenty of reasons why I could rationalize putting it off for another day, but I knew that the more I put it off the worse it was going to get. So, I made the time, and made the call.
Going into the call I was expecting a battle. The email that I had received beforehand was negative, accusatory, and disrespectful so I wasn’t excited to talk with this person. Amazingly enough, 10 seconds into the call the person on the other end was not acting ANYTHING like I had imagined they would.
I realized that what they thought they were communicating in email was not what Read More...

What I noticed is that those whose goals were working for them had two things that the others did not. The two things were:
1. “Influenceability”
2. A short time frame
Here’s what I mean. On three separate occasions, I had conversations with people who were struggling. When I asked them about Read More...

If you are having trouble with visualizations don’t worry you’re not the only one!
Visualization is the process of making mental pictures and is a powerful technique used to help you focus your attention what you desire. People often come to me expressing concern that they are doing something wrong because they are having trouble seeing what they want.
Not everyone has a wide screen movie theater on the inside of his or her eyelids. Some people close their eyes and see absolutely nothing! Just blackness or spots, but not a picture.
Whether you know it or not you can visualize. To practice, try visualizing something you already have. It Read More...
Sounds dramatic, doesn’t it? But so are the results experienced by myself and others who have put this simple, five-minute practice into action. The practice is called positive visualization. That is right, positive visualization. Some of you may think this sounds too simple, some of you may think this sounds weird, and some of you may be ready to start a simple exercise that has more power to impact your life immediately than almost any other exercise I have come across.
Before we talk about HOW to do this exercise most effectively, let’s talk about what the purpose is and why it works. The purpose behind visualization is to allow your life to be as good and fulfilling Read More...
