How to Gain New Ideas from Re-Reading Books

In preparing for this article, I had a powerful realization. It struck me that many times when we are in need of motivation or ideas to improve ourselves, we tend to look for new concepts in new books, new CD’s and new teachers. If we could revisit what we had learned in the past, perhaps we would find a deeper level of understanding and answers our own questions.

I would like to suggest that you go back to your own bookshelf, or wherever you keep your learning tools, and pull something off of the shelf that you have not paged through or listened to in the last year.

These tools could be anything – training manuals, sales books, notes from a seminar, notes from a meeting or seminar etc. I would bet that Read More...

When NOT to Send an Email

Have you ever received an email message that you thought could have been communicated in a better way? I bet if you were one of the 400 Radio Shack employees who were laid off last fall via an email message, you have this thought. (In defense of the situation, executives at Radio Shack said “they (the employees) were warned that firings would be made via email. . . ). Does that justify it? I don’t think so.

This situation got me thinking about all the times that sending email is appropriate and more importantly, when it is NOT appropriate. Here are just a few situations at work I thought about:

Fear Disappears when you are Grateful

What do you do to confront fear? I have a suggestion – practice gratitude. Tony Robbins says, “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” It is so true, gratefulness removes fear.

You have probably heard Oprah talking about keeping a gratitude journal. Coaching programs that I have taken part in talk about the gratitude principal and I recently heard a sermon on the topic of changing pleading into thankfulness.

We at Freedom Personal Development talk about thankfulness and gratefulness all the time, and yet as much as it is common knowledge that gratefulness has so much power, we often do not do it. Why is that?

I believe one of the reasons are the habits we have created in Read More...

How to Breathe Your Fears Away

As part of my company incentive trip to the Maya Riviera, I was given the opportunity to participate in a scuba diving excursion in the cenotes (under water caves) and jumped at the chance.

I was told that it was a different experience when you dive in caves, but since I had already dove in some really great spots like the Red Sea in Egypt, in Thailand & Cozumel, Mexico I figured I would make it no problem. I mean, how hard could it be, right?

Well, the time came as we, my co-workers, were preparing to enter the water and begin our dive adventure. As I got closer to the entrance point a cold dread hit me. My whole body froze and I began to breath irregularly. I could feel all the blood rushing to my Read More...
