Are You Committed to Your Absolute Best?
On a day-by-day basis, are you fully committed to doing your absolute best that day?
Do you wake up in the morning and decide, “I’m going for it today. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.”
You might be wondering why I am asking you this question. Here is why it is such an important question to ask:
The world rewards only the people who are fully, fully engaged in what they are doing. The level of commitment, energy and focus that is required for professional success, is incredibly high. And it is not on a gradient, it is either or. It operates very similar to a pot of water.
You can heat up a pot of water to 211 degrees. And do you know what you get? You get hot water! But you heat it up that one-degree further and what do you get? You get steam. At 211 you have hot water, at 212, you have steam, which can power an engine, which can power a residential neighborhood. The difference of one degree is the difference between hot water and real power.
Brian Tracy has given the analogy of what is required for an airplane to take flight. There is a certain speed that an airplane has to reach before it can develop enough lift to get off the ground. And if it goes even one-half of one mile below that critical speed, that plane will never leave the ground. It will simply taxi very, very fast. Add another one-half a mile an hour and it flies and becomes something truly amazing.
So what is your answer? Are you fully committed? I mean 100%. If you wake up in the morning and you kind of half way into your day, you are not going to get results on that day. If your 80% in, doesn’t matter. 90%, 99% does not matter.
The only thing that works, to get the kind of results that I know you are looking for, is for you to wake up in the morning and decide, “I am going for it today. It’s going to be a great day and I’m going to give it my absolute best.’
When that happens, your plane takes off. You start to develop steam and that’s when you get true momentum.
