Who doesn’t love a good movie? Watching a movie, we can see people fight battles, travel through time, realize they are married to a spy, etc. However, all along, we know they are just stories. We enjoy the emotion they bring for a couple of hours; if they’re really good they get us thinking, we learn something, and then we continue on with our own life.
However, I find it interesting how easy it is to get wrapped up in a story when it is my story. I think back to the parable of the Chinese farmer, watching the ebbs and flows of his life, remaining calm and Read More...

Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful entries in this month’s contest. I’d like to add a suggestion to the stress management contest–whenever a person is feeling stressed, a great option would be to read all the comments in this post and follow what rings true at that moment. The entries go to show that there isn’t ONE correct answer for everyone, or even one option that works every time for the same person. However, there are LOTS of great ideas.
First place and winner of an Expect Success book is Jeff Johnson Read More...
In our everyday life, we often run into stress events ranging from deadlines at work, traffic jams and dealing with uncooperative people. Life events such as a new baby, a death of a loved one or moving can add even more pressure.
Unmanaged stress can lead to high blood pressure, ulcers and even heart attacks. Often times we cannot control the events that lead to stress, but we can control our response to it.
For this month’s contest, we want to know your advice on how to deal with the stressful events – big or small.
To enter, simply type you name, email and your answer Read More...
What do you do to confront fear? I have a suggestion – practice gratitude. Tony Robbins says, “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” It is so true, gratefulness removes fear.
You have probably heard Oprah talking about keeping a gratitude journal. Coaching programs that I have taken part in talk about the gratitude principal and I recently heard a sermon on the topic of changing pleading into thankfulness.
We at Freedom Personal Development talk about thankfulness and gratefulness all the time, and yet as much as it is common knowledge that gratefulness has so much power, we often do not do it. Why is that?
I believe one of the reasons are the habits we have created in Read More...
A few months ago I wrote an article on how to remember phone extensions and had great feedback that it worked for many graduates of the Memory Training Workshop. However, some of you asked, “Leah, what do I do if the extension is longer?” So in this article I am going to give two examples of three and four digit extensions.
There are two options for longer extensions, one is pretty basic and the other is a bit more advanced. We’ll start Read More...
Spring is in the air and the flowers are getting ready to burst into bloom. This time of year reminds me of a quote:
To exist is to change, to change is to mature, and to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.
Think about the analogy of a flower’s bloom in regards to this quote.
Anything that is alive, including ourselves, cannot exist without changing. Life means changing. Like a flower that is growing, we appreciate the growing and changing plant as it matures and blooms.
Sometimes, when change is happening to us, such as a new job, a workout routine, a healthier diet, or learning a new skill, it can be painful, but Read More...
Spring is in the air! Driving around this time of year, it’s hard NOT to notice the vibrant green colors that radiate from the grass, fields, and tips of trees. It’s almost as if there is a light turned on under the ground, or inside the trees, which makes the green shine so bright. As I observe nature’s new growth, I am aware of the physical manifestation of what I have been pondering in great length recently – the inextricable link between growth and radiating joy.
You see, I’ve observed this in people: when they are growing–when they are pushing themselves to produce something new or to reach a new level–they seem to be really joyful. When people feel Read More...
Most of us have heard this quote. Today I wanted to talk about the 2 things that are essential for “walking the path.”
Number 1 is to keep your eyes open so you see the path. Number 2 is to move. It sounds simple but think about it.
If you are walking on a path, there are only two things that will stop you from remaining on it. First, drifting off the path and the second is stopping motion.
So the first application, in terms of keeping your eyes open, is critical to finding the path in the first place, aka – have an idea of what you are looking for. Create goals and keep your eyes open for opportunities that will light your path. Drifting off the path is an easy Read More...
