Contest – What Would You Do if Time and Money Were No Concern
Many of us are bogged down in our day-to-day life with too many concerns. Not enough time and definitely not enough money.
This month’s contest is based on a very easy question. But this question has led many people to profound answers and discoveries of things that they did not even know about themselves.
If you decide to participate in this contest, you will gain some clues into what your purpose is on this planet and where truly meaningful goals will come from.
The question is:
What 5 Things would You Do if Time and Money Were No Concern?
(enter by posting a comment below)
Really let your imagination run wild, but one guideline to keep in mind – keep it realistic.
By that I mean if you weigh 100 lbs soaking wet and have no athletic ability, don’t say you want to be a linebacker for the Chicago Bears football team.
Asking yourself this question can begin to give you some answers as to what you might do differently in your life. Starting to pursue answers you come up with will lead you to a more fulfilling and freeing life.
To be considered for a prize, you must list 5 things. Winners will be based on out-of-the-box-thinking and the reason behind their answers.
Prizes:
First Place: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Audio CD Set
Second Place: Expect Success Book
Third Place: Freedom Personal Development Water Bottle
All winners will also receive a Blue Light-up Pen and Be Free Sticker.
Deadline:
The deadline to enter is Friday, October 30, 2009. Winners will be announced on the blog and emailed on Monday, November 2, 2009.
Be Free!

If time and money were no object I would:
1. Start a non-profit dedicated to helping those in blighted neighborhoods by:
A. Buying abandoned property.
B. Hiring unemployed tradepeople as superviosors and instructors.
C. Hire disenfranchised youth to learn while earning in the apprentice program my non-profit would administer.
D. Have homebuyer seminars to educate people in the community.
E. Sell and rent with opton to buy the fixed up houses.
2. I would take my kids on quarterly trips to exotic locations.
3. I would ski 50 days a year.
4. I would scuba dive 30 days a year.
5. I would pay off all my debts.

I would live in a 8000 sq foot 7 bedroom 7 bathroom home on 40 acres. There is a swimming pool, tall pines, a meadow with tall grass, a babbling stream, wild flower gardens, and an expansive deck off the back of the house overlooking the property. Our home would be open to all our friends as a place to relax and get refreshed.
I would go back to school and learn about genetic disorders to understand my grandson’s condition that caused him to be born blind.
I would travel to places around the world and learn geography and history by experiencing it
I would volunteer my time to those less fortunate than I and show them appreciation matters.
I would be free to be and do whatever my promptings led me to.
BTW…thanks for asking!

1.) I would go with the motto
give a man a fish you feed him for a day teach a man to fish you feed him for a life time
So I would volunteer, Help people to read and write in English. Literacy Program. Giving a life of freedom from self imposed slavery.
2.) on the same motto
Sewing lessons many people throw things away because they can not sew a button on, or mend a hem, that has come loose. Thus throwing money away. Give free sewing lessons. Giving people the freedom to create as well as fix and keep things going more green and not wasting what is still usable.
3.) Start a scholarship program: as strange as that sounds, We have many youths that are low to middle class that there parents can not afford them to get there teeth fixed. Have them do community service and in trade they get dental care, so they would intern at a office GET min wage and the employer would set aside 10%-20% of wages to the dental care scholarship program . Unfortunately our society is looks driven, first impressions count and a visual is important. Thus the lack of oral care is a self imposed glass ceiling for many, had they had their teeth fixed they may not have been look over for a promotion. Or worse yet not felt that there good enough to succeed.
4.) This is a bit more difficult, educational real world experience, Schools have left off daily living clsses how to’s so to speak, Have a High school or College course available Tuition free yet they get credit for taking the class. how to do laundry fold clothes make a bed vacuum and clean toilets fix a simple menu and cook and shop for food how to pay bills on line and how to make a budge how to do simple things like change a diaper or feed a baby care for a pet and clean out a car wash car basic daily living, This would be a mandatory class in High school or College,
5.) This is a another area in which it is helping or giving back… helping people help themselves, taking some one who has a knowledge and paring them up like a mentor program, in trade they make make a friend or even just pay it fprward so to speak program. some one who will help the elderly get a community involvement program started, No compensating at all in any way not even if there hurt on the job so to speak unless the las allows, Many of our elderly live in rundown homes or trailers homes, no on is there to help them do the basics, clean the gutters, or wash the windows or fix a leaky pipe, were talking home owners who have been in there home so long there part of it as well. fixing a drawer or changing a light bulb. This may cost some money BUT the pay off is more then any one could know.
just by adding a safety feature could save a broken hip, or even death. DONATED tho families that are no longer in need of the features passed on to some one who needs or can not afford Have companies allow their employees to help the elderly right there around the work area, there are always a few some one at least that can clean a gutter or take out the trash each volunteer can for an hour or two once a week or month go to a elderly persons home, change a washer in a tap for example, or take the to a appointment, or just sit and read giving them the much needed and desired human contact as well as enriching the lives of both parties involved.
There is so much needed and so many wanting to give, so starting up the programs on a local level (keeping it simple and local) the start up cost would be all donation and maybe having a place to keep all said donations (like an old abandon warehouse) and making life simpler and using the barter system. I am sure that we can all do this. I know I would if money were no object.
DID I mention I would also be the one getting my hands dirty and doing these as well.
I know it is all kinda of jumbles BUT I is straight in my head and I guess that is what counts, I think that true happiness comes from not what you have but what you have to offer. Money is fun at times but it can NOT bring true lasting happiness.
Thank you for reading.
Sincerely
Janet

If time and money were no issue I would:
1. Spend all my time with my kids, watching them grow and making sure they have a great and fun life. I would be on the PTA, be a chaperone, and possibly coach any sports I could. When you work and have children who knows if they are going to say their first word at daycare? It’s something I hate missing and would love to have the opportunity to experience every moment, because life is short!
2. I would adopt children that have been in orphanages for too long. You know the ones who get pased over because they are not the “ideal” child. I would adopt my whole life and keep helping the children who have no homes or loved ones to care for them.
3. I would love to have a summer camp. I would open a horse camp for kids tocome during the summer and possibly weekends during the other seasons. I would love to see kids smile when life sometimes isn’t the best. I also love horses and country living so it would be a double plus.
4. I would help all my family and friends secure the life they want. Whether it be, organizing, fixing their house, paying outstanding bills, babysitting, etc.. I think that giving is soo much better than receiving because I feel so fulfilled.
5. I would travel, buy an RV and go wherever I wanted. I want to see everything there is to see in the world. I would take allmy kids adopted or not and experience life and the great world we have, just waiting to be discovered.
Thanks for distracting me at work. LOL I had a fabulous time daydreaming…

1. I’d throw budgeting to the wind for our upcoming trip to the Galapagos, Machu Picchu, and the Peruvian Rainforest. I’d schedule the 9-day Manu rainforest trek as a private tour so I can watch birds with floating eyeballs (Cock-of-the-Rock) dance as and hordes of parrots and nocturnal rainforest mammals eat dirt as long as I want.
2. I’d travel regularly ever year to a rainforest, Europe, Las Vegas and one bonus location every year. I want to go to the Papau New Guinea rainforest to watch passion birds with doilies on their heads dance like retards, just like in the Disney Earth movie.
3. I want to keep a masseuse as a pet so my husband and I can get massages every day. All that travelling can really make you sore!
4. I’d go visit all the people I’ve been friends with for a decade (thanks to the Internet), but have never met. They’ve shown me so much generosity and love – I think I’d like to do something special for each of them.
5. I’d find something that brings peace and vitality to every special person in my life and do it. This would involve taking my mom to Florida to swim with the dolphins again, paying for my brother’s college and the education that brought peace and vitality to me, and probably taking my mother-in-law to a whole lot of baseball games where Randy Johnson is pitching…

1. I would fly to the University of Alabama Birmingham, and enroll in their “Constraint Induced Therapy” program to try and get the use of my right hand back.
2. I would build our new house, then let families stay at our current house, rent-free, to try and “get back on their feet” in these tough-economic times.
3. I would go to Africa with my wife and kids to do mission work, and hand out mosquito nets, etc.
4. I would pay-off all of my parents/in-laws debt so they too could “be free”
5. I would give out 0% mortgages to anyone who trusted me with their business, as long as they would “pay the favor foward”

If time and money was not a concern for me:
1) I would ensure that each of 3 kids would have the consistent foundational exposure to the activities/lessons/training that suits their own unique gifts/talents (dance/piano/singing lessons for my daughter, gymnastics & car racing training for my youngest son, and guitar/tae kwan do lessons for my oldest son)
2) I would go to school or take certification courses to become a Christian Life Coach that focuses on helping others discover life purpose and joy.
3) I would volunteer my time and money to non-profit organizations geared towards mentoring & teaching youth and keeping them from the streets while providing activities to stimulate their minds and bodies.
4) Open a dance fitness studio that offers classes for children/teens/adults to have fun and keep in shape to a variety of different ethnic dance styles and musical selections and work to create it into a nationwide franchise.
5) Donate large sums of money to missions work, my local church, and other ministries I support that help feed the hungry, provide housing, tools and resources that spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to people locally and around the world.

I would hit the road and travel the country in a Kenworth truck. Not just any Kenworth, but a customized tractor trailer with a sleeper cab as big as a studio apartment with every amenity and creature comfort, enough horsepower to climb any mountain with ease, and an unbelievably cool paint job, candy apple red, decked out with chrome in all the right places, turning heads no matter where we go, simply because of her awesomeness.
In the Spring and Fall, I would spend time farming. My farm would be several hundred acres and my equipment would all be new, state of the art John Deere tractors and combines. My passion for the country air, heavy duty, powerful equipment that responds with a touch of button, workin’ the fields, sunshine, fresh air, simply amazing…land spreadin’ out so far and wide, keep Park Avenue, just give me that countryside…
Down on the farm, it would be cool to have animals, perhaps a dairy farm, with a herd of cows, the whole experience…without the intense, daily responsibility of being a dairy farmer. So I would have full-time help. Perhaps I might relocate groups of homeless people to live and work on the farm, sharing in the profits from the business, managing my stocks and herds while turning their own lives around.
And every winter, I would board my sailboat and travel around the South Pacific. The boat would be easy to handle, decked out with every tech device known to man, yet amazingly huge inside! Beautiful teak wood, custom galley, unbelievably cool master suite.
Each day I would wake up in paradise. And each day I would spend my time exploring places in the world that few people ever experince. Ways of life, mind blowing beauty, nature and wildlife so unique and amazing, it changes your life every day. Every single day.
And at the end of each day, whether time or money was a factor or not, I would experience the sunset, the most beautiful colors that you could possibly imagine, and I would be free…

1) Quit my job.
2) Hunt for a good location to build a new type of facility for the aging population. Families with a handicapped member would also be allowed to live in the facility.
3) Purchase land and begin building. The facility would be a type of co-op. It would be a condominium designed so that children or grandchildren could live with their elderly parents and receive support services as part of the rent. The condos would be designed for a mix of privacy but would allow for the increasing surveillance needed as a parent aged and dimentia, alzheimers or other issues of aging set in. There would be a handicap accessible van that the building would own that could be checked out by any condo owner. There would be a large recreation room that would have activities to ease the strain on a caregiver since the caregiver would have others to socialize with throughout the day. There would also be a daycare where the elderly could interact with the children. Another important feature would be transition assistance. The people moving to this building may have their own home and may need help moving to a different type of setting. The facility would have storage lockers and counseling to assist with transition. These are just some of the features that would make this unique.
4) Move to the facility with my husband and mother.
5) Take some time to observe what worked and what didn’t, make changes, and then go on to build another.

If time and money were no object, I would go back to college and complete it, even if the old credits did not count. I would use my time to help out my kids who are struggling to have and raise their own families. I would be available to them timewise and i would assist them financially. I was a single parent Mom of four, we never had anything, and my kids were so hopeless. I would help so that my grandkids are not the same way. I would start a business, let my sons, whichever ones wanted to, run it. Give them gainful, meaningful employment. And if they wanted to go to college, I would help them accomplish that goal. I would start a program to assist single parent Moms. Specifically those who want to get out of the welfare system, but others to who need just something to bridge the gap. I would travel. I love to travel and learn about new places within the US and outside of it. I would take my kids and grandkids so that they can experience the world, but their own country and it’s many and varied looks, cultures and historical sites. I would also put money into feeding the hungry and homeless. I have been homeless with my children right after my divorce, and it only took a little hand-up from those in my church and community to get me back on my feet and running. It was still hard, but I was running; successfully attacking each day and doing what had to be done. I would SO LOVE the opportunity to have no time and no money constraints, because the possibilities of what I could creatively do, would be endless!! Thanks for letting me dream!

Wow, thanks for the inspiration. Now that the kids are grown and established on their own….
1. Cut loose….Buy a world class sailing yacht, full hydraulics and navigation tech of course, and sail the world for 5 years with my husband and soulmate. The people we would meet, the adventures…joy, joy, joy.
2. Buy acreage the size of a small state in a secluded spot, which included a private lake, and build a 20,000+ sq foot earth-friendly house overlooking the water, where we could provide an oasis for family and friends to pursue their answers to this question too.
3. Get into space. I want to see the sweet, sweet Earth from out there – not just in pictures. Tickets are available now!
4. Establish a school for kids that nurtures self-worth, supports self-expression, and that teaches responsible entrepeneurial thinking. Our future world needs enlightened thinkers and leaders with integrity and old-fashioned guts.
5. Set up a foundation that fuels leading edge thinking, research and innovation in the development of higher consciousness, human potential and human relationships. Politics is not the answer. “Imagine”

What I would do if time and money were NO object… the thought actually is making my eyes well up…
1) I would hire all the best doctors/specialists/educators to help my youngest son be able to not only find out how to help him live with his severe, but not yet considered disability, issues and help him find that something in him to help him be the person I know he is somewhere in there.
2) I would make it possible to have my oldest son meet all of his favorite authors and ask them all the questions that I know he has going on in his head…
3) Being able to be there for my family and not HAVE TO work, without worrying about bills… hmmmmm… WOW!!!
4) Take my family on an extensive trip to see other cultures, landscapes, climates, and landforms.
5) Get into a single family home again… have a yard, patio, garage, and a riding lawn mower this time!!!
Thanks for asking…

This took some thought, I’m so used to not being able to think outside the box:
1) Create a non-profit that would pay the disabled that were not approved by social security a monthly stipend to be able to meet their needs.
2) Put solar panels on every single house on the planet.
3) Put solar panels & a ‘Mr Fusion’ machine for back up power on every single motorized vehicle on the planet.
4) Put a salt to fresh water plant in several places along the African coast where they have widespread drought & famine (along with a water supply infastructure to get the water to them.
5) Travel in a Mini-Wini with my husband to see every inch of these beautiful United States.

3. I would build jails 20 stories below the ground so bad people (KILLERS, CHILD MOLESTERS AND RAPISTS) could never escape and never see God’s given light again.
4. I would try to get the President to keep ENGLISH as America’s ONLY language.
5. I would travel with my family.

1. I’d spend more time reading and learning.
There is so much I want to read, from inspirational books, fiction novels, newsletters, magazines, newspapers, and everything on the internet. There is an abundance of information and education available but never enough time to read everything of interest.
2. I’d travel around the world.
I would really love the opportunity to visit Ireland and explore more of the USA. I have friends around the world I’d like to visit; cultures I’d like to experience; climates I can only imagine; exotic foods to taste; and so much more!
3. I’d establish a write colony.
I’ve always dreamed of creating a haven for writers. I see a small community-style resort setting designed to provide all a writer needs to immerse themselves in craft, creativity, and inspired purpose. I’d like to host workshops and social gatherings, provide scholarships, and play a part in the success of thousands of writers from around the world.
4. I’d experience more with my children.
There are so many things I want to share and show my little ones. I’d love to be able to give my daughter the horse riding lessons she craves and build the ranch of her dreams. I’d love to immerse my son in a range of activities to discover what he is truly passionate about and help him achieve his full potential. With existing time and money limitations the best I can do is provide unwavering support and encouragement which I suppose is good. It teaches them to put in the hard work to accomplish their goals for themselves. But it would feel incredible to be able to give them all they could desire from life, to make their lives remarkable and fulfilled.
5. I’d work more on my physical health and mental well-being.
I know the theory, eat healthy, balanced meals, get regular exercise, meditate, contemplate, and enrich your mental and spiritual self. But sometimes I’m just too exhausted to do more than toss a frozen meal into the oven and curl up for a nap. So much happens in every day that sometimes these simple, vital aspects of living well stumble down the list of priorities and are neglected.

I would start a Yoga company that specifically caters to the elderly. This Yoga would be touch based b/c I believe the elderly need touch and companionship. I would start a shelter for aging dogs/pets that are left behind when someone passes away and try to rehab them as service type dogs for the elderly Service, as in love and affection visits, etc.
I would travel and learn spanish very well.
I would become a marine biologist.

Start an American cable news channel that actually focused on ACTUAL NEWS around the world (sorry, but Michael Jackson dying is not worth hours of coverage) – what is going on and how Americans can help/make a positive difference – supported by social media and viral marketing to spread the world and make real change.
2. Have the United Nationals list “Access to Clean Water” as a basic human right and end all privation of water sources and damming in the world.
3. Have all schools in the US be year around and go from 8:30-5:30 with extremely high competition to be a public school teacher since they would be paid the equitant of a Dr’s salary and go through equivalent schooling and training
4. Have free health care for all citizens of the United States (seriously folks – this is a basic human right)
5. End all reliance on oil and coal and energize the world with wind, sun and renewable energy sources.

Wow, I love this question. I’ve been putting some thought this month, but since day 1 when I read it, my thoughts haven’t really changed. For starters, you should re-write the question to state, What 5 Things WILL You Do WHEN Time and Money Are No Concern? There, much better, now here’s what I’m going to do:
1. Build my dream home. 8 bedroom, many bathrooms, home theater, and the works. In addition, we’ll have a large 4 bedroom guest house seperate from the house for any guest that would come over, this way they can have some space to. It will also have a large/separate garage for all the toys that one needs. Also, because I love the north where I live, it will have a heated driveway so I will never have to shovel snow again.
2. As money will not be a concern, neither will having a job to create money. My wife and I will be able to be full-time parents and home-school our boys. This will also have its rewards and options. For example, when we are teaching them about ancient cultures, we can travel and see those locations first hand. Because we haven’t any jobs and no money concerns, we can stay as long as we need to in order to teach them about everything.
3. Of course, good people do good things with money. One thing I will do is start up a home for children that have abusive/troubled homes. This will be an extremely positive place full of excitement and strong leaders. A large focus will be put on growing one’s self. A few things about this home, 1) it will be free for all those that want to come 2) individuals will need to come on their own free will 3) everything will be privately funded by me with no government funding
4. I will also be doing things with other local children, namely high school boys to help keep them out of trouble. I love cars and working on them, as do many young men. I plan on starting a local garage where young men can come, hang out, work on cars, and also get influenced by real men of character.
5. I’ve always wanted to adopt some children, so I will also be adopting a few children to raise.
Now that I’ve got plenty of room, no stress, and I’ve made a difference, I know my work is done.
Thanks!
