How Much are You Worth? (I would bet it is $5 Million)
In this article, I will prove to you that you are worth at least $5,000,000 – but before I get to that, let me lay some ground work, starting with the emotional barriers to growth.
There are four emotional barriers that prevent us from achieving growth in our lives. They are:.
1. Accepting 100% responsibility for your life.
2. Taking massive, and immediate, decisive action.
3. Willingness to look foolish.
4. Beginning with incorrect premises.
Today I wanted to talk about the last one on this list – beginning with incorrect premises.
So, what do I mean by an incorrect premise? An incorrect premise is a belief you hold, something that you honestly believe to be true – but, it is not. If your starting belief is incorrect, then the actions you take to produce results will not be the results you want to see.
So if you have a negative result in your life, a result you are not happy with, look at your underlying beliefs. If you never examine your starting point or your beliefs, it is almost impossible to change those results on any kind of a permanent basis. Easy to change things temporarily, but for a permanent change, you have got to examine where you are starting from.
A classic example of an incorrect premise is the commonly held belief that it takes money to make money. Folks, if you believe that, let me fill you in on something. That is not true, and it has never been true. Ask any successful, wealthy entrepreneur. Most of them will tell you that they started with nothing. What it takes to make money is guts, hard work, determination, preparation and seizing opportunities. But it does not take money to make money.
If you still believe it takes money to make money, ask a lottery winner. 95% of lottery winners that receive a check for a million, sometimes 10s of millions of dollars, are worse off financially 5 years of after the winning the money. It does not take money to make money; it takes the right mindset to make money.
A damaging incorrect premise that most people have is in regards to income level. Most people in some way or another believe that they are not worth very much. If your income is less than what you would like it to be, you must understand that you make exactly as much money as you really believe you are worth over the long haul.
I will say that again. You make exactly as much money as you honestly believe that you are worth.
People that do not make as much money as they would like, if they looked deep inside their beliefs about money, would find an incorrect premise that they believe they are really not worth much.
Let me help dispel that incorrect premise for you. I want you to go look at a mirror and ask yourself a couple of questions.
1. Do you have eyes that work? And if you are able to look in a mirror, the answer would be, ‘yes.’
2. Do you have ears that function properly? You probably do, so your answer is ‘yes.’
3. Do you have legs that work? I would bet the answer for most of you is, ‘yes.’
4. Do you have hands that work properly? The answer for most of you is, ‘yes.’
5. Do you have a brain that works properly? If you are reading this, the answer would be ‘yes.’
I want you to think about those five things for a second. Your eyes, ears, legs, hands and brain. I bet that if I offered you a million dollars to give up any one of those things, I do not think you would accept that offer. I bet you believe that each of those things is worth at least a million dollars. Which if you just take those things combined, that means that you are worth a bare minimum of $5 million. Congratulations.
The mere fact that you are here on this planet tells me that you are worth a great deal. If you are operating under the incorrect premise that you are not, go look in the mirror and help yourself prove otherwise.
