Jack Canfield’s Advice on How to Find a Mentor
Earlier this week, we posted an article on our blog on how success leaves clues. The easiest way for you to become successful is to find someone that has achieved what you want and ask them to mentor you.
In this video, Jack Canfield, author of The Success Principles, gives some practical advice on how you go about finding a good mentor.
First – Make a list of what you want to achieve – set a sales record, get a new job, lose weight, write a book, traveling the world – anything at all.
Second – Make a list of all of the people you know that has achieved this. If a list of names doesn’t come to mind right away, start asking everyone you know if they know someone that has achieved what you want.
Third – Once you have found your potential mentor, ask if you can spend 10 minutes a week with them on the phone. Tell them you respect and admire them and want to learn from them. If you get a no, ask someone else. Never give up on your dream.
Fourth – Ask them what actions you can take to get closer to your goal.
Fifth – Report back to your mentor that you took the action they recommended and the results you saw.
Sixth – Be sure to thank them for their time, advice and expertise.

This is great advice. It’s never to late to hook up with a mentor
