Finishing strong in the 4th quarter is still about your technical prowess, but it’s at least as much about keeping your head in the game.
Here are 6 questions that I would encourage you to answer. Your answers go a long way towards determining how the next 8 weeks will feel when they’re done.
Take a few moments to put your answers in the comments below. Do it quickly, do it NOW, and then watch your email for an analysis of your answers.
#1- How often do you review/reconnect with your goals for Q4?

#1- How often do you review/reconnect with your goals for Q4?
I have my goals posted in front of me all the time! So I stay focused.
#2- How many days per week do you begin with some version of a power half-hour where you consciously program your mind for a successful day?
I do that every morning as I look at my schedule and create my to do list.
#3- How many times per week do you have uplifting conversations with someone else in your company?
ummmm? close to none
#4- How much time per day do you read? What are you reading this week?
I read about 2 times per week. I am reading “Becoming a person of Influence” by John Maxwell.
#5- How many times per week are you engaging in physical exercise of some kind?
I used to do that daily. However I have fallen out of that. So now it is twice a week.
#6- On a scale of 1-10, how on schedule would you say you are?

#1: I never have. I have never even considered setting quarterly goals.
#2: I’d never thought about doing that, either. It’s a great idea.
#3: Nearly every conversation I have with everybody is uplifting. I endeavor to do that.
#4: About 2 hours every other day. Political Science text books. I’m not reading anything extra for pleasure, but I do enjoy my textbooks.
#5: 2. Definitely not as often as I should.
#6: I am not scheduled at all. I am finding it difficult to develop the habit, but it is developing.

#1- Never. This year’s been goal-messy — after I changed jobs in June, my goals shifted from “find a job” to “adjust to this job” — and the rest of my life took a back seat. I did plan to read the Bible through this year, and I’m about 2 weeks behind on the plan.
#2- I might get a power-day once or twice a week
#3- I might have uplifting conversations with someone at work once a week — if I remember to go to lunch.
#4- If reading email counts, I’m ALWAYS reading. But my daily 15 minutes of Bible time is gone! Books on CD count? I did manage to “read” Glenn Beck’s “Arguing with Idiots” and a neat audio-book called “Home to Harmony” during my new l-o-n-g commute (when I wasn’t carpooling).
#5- EXERCISE!? How about running the two flights of stairs from the parking garage to the office? And maybe a couple of blocks of dog-walking a week. Really sad in this department.
#6- 1. I am paralyzed by the list of things I SHOULD be doing, and too exhausted to do any of them.
