The Difference Between Joy and Happiness

Joy, oh I love talking about joy. I’ve done hundreds of interviews where I have the opportunity to talk about joy and I tell people all the time that I’m thrilled and proud to work with an organization that values joy. Joy is our second core value and we live it everyday.

Many people often struggle with what joy is. How does joy affect your everyday life and how can you make sure that are pursuing it? Joy is a word that’s taken for granted and often gets confused with happiness. So stop and think about it for second. What’s the difference between joy and happiness?

Little Victories Attitude Management Tool

If you want to grow as a person, professionally or personally, you must overcome some barriers to growth.  One barrier to growth I have seen hold people back, time and time again, is an unwillingness to take decisive action.

The Solution?  You must be willing to take decisive action!  Take quick and powerful action if you want to see growth. If you want to see growth, you must begin moving.

If what you are currently doing or trying is not working, what should you do?  If you said, ”I should do something else” and I would say “that is not right.” I say that when what you are doing is not working, do ANYTHING else. Simply start moving in a Read More...

Time Out for Gratitude

With the recession and gloom and doom clouds over Wall Street, a time out for gratitude is in order. It will lift your sprits through these tough times…..and remember, these tough times that WILL get better.

We’ve all heard that we should “Count our Blessings”. While this is a good exercise in gratitude, more importantly, we must realize that we are exactly where we are supposed to be at this very moment. I could give you an endless list of all the differences between us in America and those in developing countries, we could discuss that a full Read More...

The Proper Care and Feeding of Your Attitude

As a reader of this blog, you’ve likely given some thought to the whole idea of your “attitude.”  I mean, even the most casual student of Personal Development usually has a corny but helpful poster with some pithy saying about “attitude” right?  Some of the more popular ones:

“It’s your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude”
“Attitude is contagious- is yours worth catching?”

Or pick your favorite. There are lots of options, and I think that’s great- in fact I have some of those very posters! What we’re hoping for with this article is to go a Read More...

I believe laughter truly is the best medicine. Uncle Albert says it perfectly in Mary Poppins when he sings, “The more I laugh the more I fill with glee, and the more the glee the more I’m a merrier me.” Yeah, okay, I realize that’s silly but it’s true. I mean laughter makes you happy or at least it makes you happier than if you’re not laughing.

According to Web M.D. and healthguide.org, laughter has been proven to Read More...

What Are You Putting IN Your Head – Input Sources Impact Your Attitude

An input source is the information, from various sources, that comes into our brain and has a huge impact on our attitude. The two main sources of input are internal and external.

External input sources include what you read, watch, listen to and, a very important one, the people you hang around with.

Internal input sources are what we say to ourselves and what we say to other people. It’s information that comes from within us.

The topic of managing your input sources is very simple. Put positive things in, and you will have a more positive attitude. Put in negative things, and you are going to have a more negative attitude Read More...
