Pump Up the Jam! What Music Motivates You?

Music has an unbelievable power to inspire and motivate us. We have all had moments in our life when a song has picked us up off the ground and got us back into the game or at times has taken us from good to great in business, family or personal lives.

Music has the power to help us focus, relax, laugh & even allow us to cry. Music has the ability to change our emotional state and move us in ways that the spoken word cannot. Sometimes it is just the feeling it gives us or the words within the song get us thinking and challenge us to be better. Many of us have that one song that whenever the “chips are down” we pop it in our iPods and suddenly all is clearer, better, sweeter, happier, livelier, Read More...

The Proper Care and Feeding of Your Attitude

As a reader of this blog, you’ve likely given some thought to the whole idea of your “attitude.”  I mean, even the most casual student of Personal Development usually has a corny but helpful poster with some pithy saying about “attitude” right?  Some of the more popular ones:

“Attitude is everything!”
“It’s your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude”
“Attitude is contagious- is yours worth catching?”

Or pick your favorite. There are lots of options, and I think that’s great- in fact I have some of those very posters! What we’re hoping for with this article is to go a Read More...

What Are You Putting IN Your Head – Input Sources Impact Your Attitude

An input source is the information, from various sources, that comes into our brain and has a huge impact on our attitude. The two main sources of input are internal and external.

External input sources include what you read, watch, listen to and, a very important one, the people you hang around with.

Internal input sources are what we say to ourselves and what we say to other people. It’s information that comes from within us.

The topic of managing your input sources is very simple. Put positive things in, and you will have a more positive attitude. Put in negative things, and you are going to have a more negative attitude Read More...

What is Your Attitude Boost Contest

Our September newsletter and blog is focusing on Attitude and there will be tons of tools, tips and discussions on how to manage and boost your attitude.

A major component of managing your attitude deals with what you say to yourself, also called self-talk. In our everyday life, we have joys, disappointments, successes and failures. How you respond internally and externally to these events determine whether your attitude is optimistic or pessimistic. Research has shown that optimistic people live longer, have more fulfilling and healthier lives, have more friends and enjoy greater success.

The majority of our blog and newsletter readers are in sales. Salespeople get told yes Read More...

Three Steps to Make Self-Talk Work in Your Favor

Leah SimpsonWe all know that there are many factors that influence our attitudes from the outside – what we watch on TV, what the people around us say, what we read etc. But what about the things you say to yourself on the inside?

Does the subject of self-talk make you uncomfortable? I know when I first learned about “self-talk,” I thought it sounded hokey, cheesy, and just weird. So if you feel that way, know that I understand where you are. None the less, I ask you to keep your mind open for a few minutes because what you can learn can significantly change not only your outlook on life, but the amount of success that you experience.

You talk to yourself all the time. Think about Read More...

Instant Attitude Boost

Roger SeipI have done many informal surveys with people about whether their attitude is a talent or a skill.

Talent being something that you are either born with or not; either you have it or you do not. Skill is something that you will learn through conscious efforts.

Sometimes people have a tendency to argue with me about this and say that their attitude is a talent, but when I ask them the question, are there things that you can proactively consciously do to improve your attitude and they answer always is, yes!

Most people are not aware of this or aware of the tools that they have to improve their attitudes. We discuss many of these attitude management tools in our Read More...

Contest – Best Response to “How Are You Doing?”

Roger SeipRecently I had a discussion with some business leaders regarding our language and how it affects our state of mind and attitude. Specifically, we talked about the answer to the most common question in America, “How are you doing?” The typical response, “Fine. How are you?” doesn’t do much to boost our attitude or outlook on our day.

We started brainstorming alternative and positive answers such as:

“Terrific!” ~ “I am unbelievable” ~ “If I was doing any better I’d be twins” ~ “If I was doing any better, vitamins would be taking ME!” (my personal all time favorite)

Here is my challenge to you: I want to know YOUR best response to the questions “How are you Read More...

How to Start Your Day on the Right Foot – Part 2

Tom WeberYesterday, in Part 1, we discussed the importance of positive self talk before you go bed. This time is so powerful for your subconscious because at that moment of drifting to sleep, your alpha waves are most prevalent.

When you wake up is the other time when alpha waves are powerfully flowing. No other time of the day is more influenced by our own actions and thoughts than right now.

Again, we have the great ability to program how we feel. The first 32 seconds after you awake are Read More...
