Recently, a good friend of mine admitted that he was gay. Well he didn’t actually admit it outright, although he did clearly hint at it openly and jokingly. It was rather refreshing to see him breaking down some social barriers that surround us at varying heights throughout our lives. What’s amazing is I recall thinking, and have always felt, “whatever”! I love the guy and hope that he is a part of my life until the end. That message was crystal clear, unbiased, coming directly from my soul…

So it started me thinking about the whole concept of Read More...

3 Lessons from My Backyard

Roger SeipThis past weekend my wife and kids were off on a little vacation, so I knew I’d have the entire weekend, Friday afternoon through Sunday evening, at my disposal. So what do you imagine I did? That’s right, I got to spend the weekend working on my yard! And I must say, I enjoyed it immensely. The experience was both necessary and cathartic, and I took some lessons from it that I thought you might find useful.

1. Something to look Forward to is Great for Your Attitude

This weekend had been set up about 6 weeks ago. So I knew for quite some time that this weekend was happening, and though a weekend of landscaping may not sound like your ideal way to spend a couple free days, I Read More...

4 Ways to Simplify Your Life

Simplicity allows you to move through life more easily, more quickly and with much greater enjoyment. I learned this through thousands of miles of hiking.

In long distance hiking, the goal is clear – walk from here to there. Your ability to achieve that goal with ease, comfort and safety is dramatically affected by the load you choose to carry.

Many hikers carry gear that is seldom used, contributes little value and mostly just adds weight to their packs. Over time I learned to reduce my pack weight so that everything I need to be safe and comfortable (including food and water) for 5 days weighs about 30 pounds. If I replace some old equipment, I can easily reduce that to 20-25 pounds. I know hikers Read More...

Not many things feel as good as experiencing the perfect day. You know the feeling, when everything seems to just go right. I know some of you reading this are thinking… “how about the perfect hour” that would be a good start.

The thing about the perfect day that is important to understand is that they don’t happen by accident. Many times it seems like an accident, but in reality there are a couple of things that happen when everything just seems to go right.

For starters, the perfect day almost always has at least one, if not several moments that are highly Read More...

You Shouldn’t Read This

Many people have talked with me recently about getting motivated when they don’t feel like it or when they are having a bad day. If you have ever wondered that then read on.

There are many ways to get yourself motivated. Anyone who has listened to Tony Robbins have learned about changing your state, specifically using your physiology, your focus, and your language. And because the “state” that you are currently “in” is determined by those three forces, if you change any of those three then you will change your “state”.

For example if you are feeling sad you might feel “down” and usually, you will droop your shoulders a little and your Read More...
