During the past several weeks (actually months) I have been doing a great deal of soul searching and have been attempting to parse out what the difference has been between the times of feast and famine in my business. I believe I have come up with something that may be beneficial to those of us either experiencing a similar challenge or are interested in reducing the duration of the famine.
Looking back to the time in my business when I was really rolling, particularly my first two years as a speaker at FPD. Here are my top 4 Keys that allowed me to break records and bust loose.
1) Attitude: Simply put, from the beginning I believed that I was the best. I would be willing to wager one of the reasons Alan Mong kicks so much tail is because he has a very healthy belief in his skills. I Read More...
The story of “The Daffodil Principle” originally appeared nearly ten years ago in Jaroldeen Edwards’ book Celebration! The story illustrates 3 key points of how to create grand results in your life and the world. These are

Last month we asked the question, “What is your biggest obstacle towards hitting your goals and how do you overcome it?” The single thread that ran through most of the response we received where, in one way or another, we can be both the problem and the solution to the challenges we face. Fascinating.
I want to give you a couple of powerful ideas on how to give your new goals some momentum.
Here are the simple steps I take every year to really get some power behind my goals.
1. Set my goals in all areas of my life: professional, financial, mental, physical, family, and social.
2. Look for an overarching theme. This is usually something that links many of the goals together.
3. Pick an appropriate symbol for the theme.
For example, in 2006 I had the Year of the summit, because climbing the mountain was a physical goal as well as metaphorical goal of hitting team goals, sales goals, etc. In 2005, I had the Year of the House, which was the year that I invested in Read More...

There seems to be a polarization of emotions these days about the results people are getting. Some people are feeling awesome with how the year is going, and others are feeling…well, crappy. There isn’t much in between.
Let’s learn from those who are feeling great. And if you’re on of those people, please keep reading because:
1. you can post great comments for everyone, and
2. if you don’t keep doing these things, you won’t be feeling great for very long!
People that are achieving the results they wanted to see, and are on track to hit their goals, are doing four things very well and doing them consistently. They are:
What can transform a monotonous task into inspired service? A mundane job into a passionate career? What separates the man who is laying brick from the one building a cathedral? Purpose. Purpose which is the reason for which something is done or created. Purpose can also differentiate a quota from a goal. You’ve probably heard the 5 points of an effective goal. It must be:
1. Meaningful to You
2. The Right Size
3. Specific and Measurable with a Due Date

With 2009 right around the corner, many of you are starting to set resolutions or goals for the New Year. You probably have a long list of things you want to accomplish. Perhaps getting to the gym three times a week, taking a two week vacation, setting and sticking to a weekly budget, learn a new hobby, cooking and eating healthier each night for dinner, but you might be thinking to yourself, “Do I really have the time to make these resolutions a reality?”
We all know people, who seem to do everything, but how do they fit it in with work, family and other commitments? Did this just happen? Are they lucky? No, they are intentional with their long term planning.
