Lost in the mists of time before civilization existed, even before Zig Ziglar, there was a man named Ug. Ug was a mighty hunter and leader of his tribe. Ug was also one of the first great inventors.

Ug developed the first stone knife to make killing and preparing the meat easier. He invented the bow to fire a small spear from a great distance, making it easier to hunt many fast, hard-to catch animals. Ug became known as the greatest hunter of his tribe, and he shared his secrets with other Read More...

Solutions are Found in Self-Education

Henry Ford once said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80.  Anyone who keeps learning stays young.  The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”

Jim Roan teaches that formal education will get you a living, but self-education will get you a fortune.

Aristotle went as far as to say that the difference between an educated and uneducated man is the same difference as being alive or being dead.

If you think about it, the solution to just about every challenge you face in your life has already been discovered by someone else, you just have not learned it yet. Being in the information age, we have better information more information Read More...

The Only Thing Constant is Change

“The only thing constant is change.” I heard that for the first time while watching the Broadway production of Jekyll and Hyde when I was in my early twenties. I’ve always remembered it because it struck me as one of the most simple, yet profound, statements I’d ever heard.

Everything, everyone, everywhere will always change. We are wise to accept this because it is an inevitable part of life. Yet, humans resist change more often than not. Why is this? It’s the one of the only things we can truly count on. But with change comes uncertainty……the unknown….the unfamiliar. This is why it can also be uncomfortable. It can be like Read More...

How to Keep Learning and Stay Young

Filed under: Personal Freedom — Tags: , , , , , , , , — Freedom Personal Development @ 8:11 am

Forget the cover-ups, wrinkle creams, and cosmetic surgeries. To stay young, form the habit of Constant Learning. Education is a virtue that guarantees youthfulness.

Wisdom is not the province of the old. We all have known old people who continuously spout off opinions, but an old person who listens is the one who actually knows something. Nor is education about going to school. A classroom setting may be an effective venue for an introduction to some subjects. Nevertheless, mastery is always gained from what you do outside the classroom. So stop dividing life into school and “real life.” Real life is your school and it always has been.

Studying without Feedback Increases Anxiety During Exams

By Robert Seiler of College-Study-SKills.com

How can you tell how effectively you’re studying? What I’m about to tell you can really turn your grades around if you can get your head around it. Don’t pass it off as something simple and perhaps not worth thinking about because I believe it’s one of the easiest ways to improve your grades if you bother to make it a part of how you study.

Before I tell you what it is I want to ask you a question.

Let’s say there are two music students who want to learn the piano but one of them is unfortunately deaf. Which student do you think will be able Read More...

Your Answer Reflex – How it can Help Durning Exams

By Robert Seiler of College-Study-SKills.com

Have you ever touched a hot iron and then pulled your hand away really quickly to avoid getting burned? Did you have to think to yourself, “Gee! – this iron is hot – I better not touch it any longer because it’ll probably cause a really bad burn on my hand.”  The answer is obviously NO!  You wouldn’t have had any time to think about what you should do and pulling your hand away is automatic.

It’s what we call a ‘reflex’ action. It doesn’t involve much, if any, thinking because by the time you think about it, it’s too Read More...

Make Mistakes when Studying

By Robert Seiler of College-Study-SKills.com

One of the most effective ways of learning naturally is by making mistakes. I’m sure you’ve heard people say that we learn by making mistakes. How many times have you also heard people say “don’t make mistakes”? Lots of times I bet.

In tennis, and any sport, mistakes and correcting them, is called practice. You know immediately whether you’ve made a mistake in tennis when the ball goes out of court, and you try to correct that mistake the next time. This is called ‘learning how to play tennis’.

In other words, learning is simply a Read More...

What Would You Do if You Weren’t Afraid?

Leah SimpsonWhat would you do it you weren’t afraid? It’s such an interesting question. So many times, we’re held back by fear.

In fact, I was just looking up phobias. Do you know that there are 98 phobias of things that start with just the letter “S”? And this isn’t even an official website. There were probably many that were missed on this list but I’ll give you a couple of my favorite “S” phobias.

The fear of string – I believe it’s pronounced li-no-no-pho-bia.

The fear of slime – (Oh, by the way, the fear of slime has two names) – blennophobia or myxophobia, whichever your preference.
