Stress Management Contest

In our everyday life, we often run into stress events ranging from deadlines at work, traffic jams and dealing with uncooperative people.  Life events such as a new baby, a death of a loved one or moving can add even more pressure.

Unmanaged stress can lead to high blood pressure, ulcers and even heart attacks.  Often times we cannot control the events that lead to stress, but we can control our response to it.

For this month’s contest, we want to know your advice on how to deal with the stressful events – big or small.

To enter, simply type you name, email and your answer Read More...

Contest – What Do You Say to Start Your Day?

Filed under: Attitude Management, Contests — Tags: , , — Roger Seip @ 6:00 am

Nido Qubein taught me that there are fundamentally two kinds of people. There are those who wake up and say “Ooooh, good morning God!” Then there are those who say “Oh, good god…morning.” Which are you?

During the day, there are 2 times that your brain is most receptive to “programming”. One of these times is as soon as you wake up (the other is before you go to bed.)

Whether it is conscious or unconscious, the first few thoughts you have when you wake up will set the tone for the rest of your day. Spoken out loud they can be even more powerful.

So, how do you start your day? Do you say something positive (either to yourself or out loud) or are you grumbling about having to get up?

Where do You See Yourself in 5 Years Contest

Alan MongWhere do you see yourself in 5 years? It is the kind of question that seems to come up in job interviews, but when was the last time you asked yourself that question?

I recently lead a discussion with some highly motivated people on clarifying and crystallizing what dreams, visions and missions we all had for our lives.

The fact of the matter is, if you don’t have a dream for your future, you will wake up in 5 years and realize you are in the exact same place you are in now.

And if you do have a dream, the more you can see in detail what you want, the more you will attract people and opportunities into your life that will bring you closer to that vision. In fact, the more you can share Read More...

Outside the Box Thankfulness Contest

Eric PlantenbergHappy November! As Thanksgiving is several weeks away, this month’s contest focuses on gratitude.

When it comes to giving thanks and being grateful for the people, places and things in our lives, there are some obvious items that are usually ranked first on most people’s lists. Family, health, food, clothing, housing, job, church/spirituality and good friends regularly top the lists.

For this year’s contest, we want to go past the obvious and explore some the lesser-mentioned items that we are grateful for.

The question to answer this month is:

What 3 “outside of the box” items are you truly thankful for and Read More...

What Would You do if Time and Money Were No Concern Contest Winners

Tom WeberThank you everyone who participated in our What Would You do if Time and Money Were No Concern Contest. I know that I felt inspiration just reading your answers, so I can’t imagine how good it felt to write these.

In coming up with a Top 3, I faced a daunting task. If it were possible, we would make you all winners.

Let’s be very clear here, if your response isn’t in the top 3, you should know that just about everyone of them was a tie, and the ones chosen as winners had some points for a different way of saying things that others also said, or had Read More...

Back to School Contest

David ShoupWith students returning to the classroom this month, we wanted to focus this month’s contest around education.

Education is the cornerstone to professional success and if you continue to invest in education over the course of a lifetime, constantly improving your skills, the heights you will reach personally and professionally are limitless.

So, the question to answer for this month’s contest is:

What is the most important concept you learned in school and why?

This could be anything that you learned in grades K-12. It could be a particular subject that has served you in adulthood, a life’s lesson a teacher taught you or a kernel of knowledge that has Read More...
