Video – Jack Canfield on Personal Power

Getting over failure and finding success means taking 100% responsibility for your life. You have to drop your excuses and victim stories. You must take 100% responsibility for everything you experience in your life….good and bad.

Setbacks can sidetrack us with blame and excuses and we give away the power of personal responsibility. How can you Read More...

Recently, a good friend of mine admitted that he was gay. Well he didn’t actually admit it outright, although he did clearly hint at it openly and jokingly. It was rather refreshing to see him breaking down some social barriers that surround us at varying heights throughout our lives. What’s amazing is I recall thinking, and have always felt, “whatever”! I love the guy and hope that he is a part of my life until the end. That message was crystal clear, unbiased, coming directly from my soul…

So it started me thinking about the whole concept of Read More...

Average Sucks!

Roger SeipThe very first “motivational speaker” I heard as an adult was a gentleman named Mort Utley. I experienced his speech in May of 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee, at the end of a week of Sales School with the Southwestern Company.

I was 19 years old and had just finished my freshman year at the University of Wisconsin, and Mr. Utley’s speech was the final component of my formal training to sell educational books door-to-door for the summer. I was absolutely coming out of my skin with an indescribable combination of intense excitement and great fear. Mort Utley’s speech made one of the most “un-motivational” statements I had ever heard. He Read More...

3 Lessons from My Backyard

Roger SeipThis past weekend my wife and kids were off on a little vacation, so I knew I’d have the entire weekend, Friday afternoon through Sunday evening, at my disposal. So what do you imagine I did? That’s right, I got to spend the weekend working on my yard! And I must say, I enjoyed it immensely. The experience was both necessary and cathartic, and I took some lessons from it that I thought you might find useful.

1. Something to look Forward to is Great for Your Attitude

This weekend had been set up about 6 weeks ago. So I knew for quite some time that this weekend was happening, and though a weekend of landscaping may not sound like your ideal way to spend a couple free days, I Read More...

Video – The Someday Syndrome

In this video, The Someday Syndrome is presented by former US Congressman and speaking legend Ed Foreman.

The someday syndrome strikes when you constantly are looking to the future to be happy. For instance, “Someday, when I get a raise and that new car, then life is going to be really good.” Or, “Someday, when I get married, I will be happy.”

How do You Become Recession Proof?

I first learned of Tom Peters in 1995 when I listened to his program In Search of Excellence. His ideas and advice has been invaluable to me for more than a decade now.

Over the years I can think of no other business authority that has a clearer understanding of what works and what doesn’t. In my opinion, if you are looking for a model of management excellence look to Tom Peters.

Mr. Peters was recently asked how people can deal with the current challenges that this economy is posing. Below Read More...
