Today Freedom Personal Development celebrates its 13th year in business! It seems fitting that today’s post takes a look at where we have been and where we are going.
The Freedom Personal Development Story
In November of 1996, Eric Plantenberg and Roger Seip had a vision to take their passion for helping people succeed and turn that into a company. At first, Eric and Roger weren’t sure how they would improve their client’s professional and personal lives or what service they would offer. What they did have was a tremendous conviction and a burning desire to help Read More...
In my coaching experience, I have found these 2 activities the most impactful for your professional and personal development. What are they? Self-talk and visualization!
These activities ARE the most impactful, BUT the easiest to overlook and skip. So don’t skip it! Also, I encourage you to use self-talk and visualization not only as a salesperson or a professional, but in every capacity of your life.
However, for the next few minutes, we’re going to focus on using self-talk and visualization to improving our professional life by treating it more like a business with you as the business owner.

Do you find yourself writing a lot but getting little results?
To write effective business communication, there are 2 things that should be an overriding theme: 1) grab the reader’s attention and 2) layout your document, so visually, your reader wants to continue reading.
Grabbing the Reader’s Attention
To connect with the reader, do not open with something that is stuffy, formal or includes, “Please find the blah, blah, blah.” Talk to the reader. Write to them the way that you would talk.
Ask a question. Open with a quote or a joke or a reminder of a recent time together – something that connects you to them. What you are aiming for is the reader Read More...
The beauty of a career in sales is that your income is a direct result of your efforts and your skills. If you are watching your numbers and performance, you will uncover areas where you will want to increase your skill. Rather than wait for your sales manager to train you, take the initiative to train yourself.
This doesn’t mean that you will have to do it alone, and it does not mean that you need to reinvent the wheel. In fact, the key to successfully training yourself in sales is to learn from the experience of others. Here are four ways to accomplish this.
- Look up books and audio programs on selling. Find magazines and trade journals about your industry. Search the internet for books, CDs, video programs or even computer based training. Order Read More...

This subject sounds very obvious, but in my experience, many people THINK they have this area under control but they DON’T. In order to truly own your work, you need to know your business—know the numbers and statistics that affect you and your company at large, know your clients, know answers to commonly asked questions/objections, know what is going on inside your company…know YOUR business.
Let’s break this down and look at some examples. I suggested knowing the numbers and statistics that affect you and your company at large. We find there is a direct correlation of keeping track of statistics and getting solid results—not only in sales, but in every department.

Everyone is a leader to someone. Leadership is in each one of us. The amount that you utilize this gift to be a leader will all depend on you. Utilizing the principles of the Law of Attraction in a leadership role consciously will attract more results and success. These principles can carry on from being a leader in your business to being a leader at home.
Here are the 10 Leadership Tips from the Law of Attraction:
1. Take Responsibility
This is one of the principles many have a hard time dealing with. You create you reality and therefore you must take responsibility for your reality and actions. The sooner you get you control the output by your thoughts, feelings, words and actions the sooner Read More...
Nature provides many examples that can teach us important lessons about ourselves.
For example, take a tree. When people look at trees, they comment on what they can see: the brilliant fall colors, the huge size, the pretty spring blossoms…In other words, rarely will someone’s first thoughts be, “that tree must have a very extensive root system.” However, the more extensive the root system, the stronger and more beautiful the tree.
In fact, in order to grow branches and leaves, the roots must be nourished. Without nourishing the roots, not only will the tree be unable to grow, but the tree will eventually die. Now, in terms of trees, this seems fairly obvious to us. However, the same is true Read More...
How can you make the most out of your professional life? Statistically speaking, from Monday to Friday, the average working American spends between 60% and 75% of their waking hours focusing on their work. That’s a lot of time! In my coaching experience, I have found one over-riding way that people successfully maximize their work life. They treat their work as a business and not as a job.
Regardless of how they are paid, regardless of whether they receive a 1099 or a W-2, and regardless of what their boss thinks, people who treat their work as a business grow more personally, receive more recognition, impact more people, make more money, and enjoy more of their working hours than those who Read More...
Time Management. What a funny word. In many ways it doesn’t really exist because time continues, we can’t manage it. We can only use it.So, how do we insure that we are using it effectively?
In my experience coaching people, there have been two simple questions that helps to guide people on how to use their time.
I encourage you to write these down. Pull out a piece of paper, right now, and a big marker and write these down and then post it right next to your desk.
#1 Is this the most valuable use of my time right now?
When confronted with that question, it’s usually not a difficult answer. Honestly, you know. You will know if you’re wasting time Read More...
