What would You do if Time and Money were No Concern

Today’s post is based on a very easy question. But this question that has led many people to profound answers and discoveries of things that they did not even know about themselves.  Once you complete this exercise you will have some clues into what your purpose is on this planet and where truly meaningful goals will come from.

To being, you will need a pen and paper. Some people take five minutes to answer this question and for others it may take a couple of days. Take as long as you need.

Here is the question you need to answer:
What would I do if time and money were no concern?

Number your paper 1 to 25 and list a minimum of 25 things you would do with or in your life if money and time were not an issue.

Would you go back to school? Take a vacation? Start a hobby? Have kids? Buy a new house or car? Live in a different climate? Get more sleep? Eat healthier foods? Workout? Change careers? Learn to fly a plane? Start a charity? Start a business? Read 100 books? Work with famous people? Volunteer your time at the hospital? Sleep all day?

One guideline to keep in mind – keep in realistic. By that I mean is you weigh 100 lbs soaking wet and have no athletic ability, don’t say you want to play for the Chicago Bears football team.

Many of us are bogged down in our day-to-day life with too many concerns. Not enough time and definitely not enough money.

Asking yourself this question can begin to give you some answers as to what you might do differently in your life. Starting to pursue answers you come up with will lead you to a more fulfilling and freeing life.

For some people these answers will come very rapidly and easily. Some people might have never even considered this question and it may take a few days to list 5, but do not stop until you have 25 answerers.

For those of you that the answers to this exercise comes easy, I would strongly encourage you to continue your list to 50, even 100 items until it becomes a little more difficult. Continue to write until you have to stretch, until you have to think of some things that you have thought of before.

Look for themes in your ideas. This will give you clues to your life’s purpose, where to set some goals and where to make changes in your life.

I’d love to hear what you all would do if time and money wasn’t a concern for you. Please share and post a comment below.

  1. Honestly; never thought of it that way. I think that is the reason I have not achieved much in my life. I started working since I was twelve to help my grand parents and siblings in Puerto Rico. I would get up at five in the morning and run to the bakery to make bread until seven and then run to school. After school I would run back to the bakery again and work until nine at night; I would take three loafs of bread home with me every night. While in high school I was approached by an Army recruiter and joined the Army as soon as I graduated from high school. My grand father and grand mother passed away and I never had the opportunity to give them any pleasantries of life. To this day it hurts me deeply that I never re-payed them for the sacrifices they made to raised me and my brothers and sisters.
This article impressed me very much and I would commit to making my list and accomplish one item at a time.

  2. i am 19 and i havent had a free moment since i was 12. i have a very busy lifestyle and i’m constantly stressed. however, starting yesterday, i have exactly 1 month of no responsibilities. my next shift is a month from now. i dont have any classes at this moment. and i have enough money saved up to pay for my entire college education upfront. i used yesterday to sit and think about what i’m going to do with my life for the next month. i have no idea still. so i’m definitely going to use this practice to bring me focus and direction. thank you so much. i would hate for this month to pass by without accomplishing anything. i think this will really help.
